Dallas, TX, USA
Neil Kenner grew up in Dallas, TX, and decided at age 14 to change his main athletic focus from soccer to tennis. After graduating from J.J. Pearce High and achieving a Texas tennis ranking as high as #1 in singles and doubles, Neil played one year at Washington University in Saint Louis (All-American in singles and doubles) followed by three years at Indiana University (Team Captain Junior and Senior year). Neil competed in Futures and Challengers after college and simultaneously began coaching at T Bar M Racquet Club in 2006, where he had the opportunity to work with some of the top juniors in the world. In 2010, Neil relocated to Seay Tennis Center, where he was the Junior Program Director until leaving in late 2014. In 2013 and 2014, Neil and fellow Seay coach Andrew McCarthy decided to play some doubles and managed to qualify for the main draw of the RBC Challenger of Dallas, defeating the tournament's #2 seeds in 2014 and reaching the quarterfinals. In 2015, Neil privately coached a group of players that included the Texas Summer Grand Slam 18 and under Singles Champion. A couple of months later, Neil teamed up with that same student to win the Texas Region U.S. Open National Qualifier for Mixed Doubles and compete in the National Qualifier in New Haven, CT. From late 2015 to mid-2018, Neil was the Assistant Coach for the Southern Methodist University Women's Tennis program.
Upon finishing the 2018 season with SMU, Neil decided to embark on a learning mission that included the following education programs/certifications:
