Kion Coffee is whole bean, and needs to be ground prior to brewing.

How should I brew Kion Coffee?

Our Decaf shines most as a French press. But because it's medium roast, you can use a variety of brewing methods. Here’s an article to help you find your perfect brewing method.

How many servings are in each bag?

Each bag of Kion Coffee provides 12 oz. of whole bean coffee. On average, that will make ~70 tablespoons of ground coffee, and ~25-35 8oz. cups of brewed coffee, depending on personal brew and grind size preference.

What’s the roast and flavor profile?

Kion Coffee is a medium roast. Professional Cuppers have described our coffee as “balanced, with a very clean flavor. Medium body, smooth and rich. Sweet apple, marzipan, baking spices. As the cup cools, a nice dark chocolate character emerges.” Yum.

What is "Mountain Water Process"?

Mountain Water Process (MWP) is a unique chemical-free decaffeination process, which uses, you guessed it, pure mountain water. MWP maintains the beans’ original components and elements of flavor, giving you delicious, aromatic, decaffeinated coffee. In order to remove the caffeine, green coffee is soaked in a water solution. The water is removed from the beans and run through a special filter that captures caffeine molecules and allows them to be strained from the solution. The solution—now containing flavor compounds but no caffeine—is then reintroduced to the green coffee beans, which reabsorb the soluble materials.

Is Kion Decaf completely caffeine-free?

Decaf coffee is never 100% free of caffeine. However, most decafs average around 7mg of caffeine per 8 oz., which is less than a serving of dark chocolate!

Where are the green coffee beans sourced from?

Kion coffee comes from a handful of small producers in Mexico and Central America. We have a great relationship with the farmers and co-ops, and are confident they meet all of our selection criteria for the highest quality green coffee beans.

Our coffee is roasted in the United States at two different roasting facilities.
